The Ken Ather Outdoor Centre Stape
Located near the heart of the beautiful North York Moors National Park,
you will find the Ken Ather Outdoor Centre, housed at Stape in the old
schoolhouse, near the pretty market town of Pickering in North Yorkshire.
The recently refurbished centre is only a short hop from Scarborough
or Whitby on the Yorkshire coastline, or a similar distance to the historic
city of York.
Ideally situated for local attractions such as mountain biking, orienteering
and the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, which runs from Pickering
through 'Heartbeat country' to Goathland, there are also campsites within
half a day's hike making it an ideal base for Duke of Edinburgh Award
Expeditions.
Already popular with schools, scouts, guides and adult hiking groups,
the centre now offers excellent facilities following an extensive refurbishment
programme which is ongoing.
This idyllic setting has provided generations of children with many happy
memories from its very first days as an Outdoor Centre, right up to the
present day. |
