The Joseph Rowntree School celebrated GCSE Results today with many students achieving a high number of A* and A grade passes. The school had a record high of those top grades with 17 students gaining 9 or more A*/A grades. Mrs. Wright, Headteacher, congratulated the hard work of students, staff and thanked parents, governors and the Local Authority for their continued support.
A-Levels

Congratulations go to all our students ! We are delighted that seven of our students ( Helen Tuffs, Jenna Macaulay, Chris Hutton, Anna Braithwaite, Emily Nicholson, Laura Irwin and Ruth Evans ) achieved at least one of the new A* grades, with top scores including Helen Tuffs who achieved 3A* and 1A grade and Jenna Macaulay who achieved 1 A* and 4 A grades. Also successful were applicants to competitive universities and courses including Ruth Evans who has secured her place at Oxford University and Ashley O’Donnell who has secured his place to study Dentistry at Newcastle University and Katy Knowles at Nottingham University for Vetinary Science. |

Our aim is to encourage students to develop into mature and confident young people who play an active part in all aspects of school life. With our strong guidance and pastoral care systems, our students are valued, supported and given every opportunity for personal development through the full spectrum of subjects and extra curricular activities, with particularly high achievement in sport.
I am delighted to welcome you to The Joseph Rowntree School. Our school is a highly successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive of some 1,200 students including approximately 200 in the Sixth Form, set in extensive, attractive grounds and playing fields. With our state of the art exciting new school we have the facilities and opportunities to challenge young people at every level in our world of technological change.
The school has a first class teaching and support staff who are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Everyone works effectively and there is a genuine concern to provide high quality education alongside support for our students. We are a fully inclusive school, preparing students with the skills to learn throughout their lives as citizens of the 21st century. We welcome applications from our own school community as well as entrants from outside of the school. New entrants quickly settle in and make friends.

Arrangements for start of term:
Term begins on Thursday 2nd September for all students.
Year 7 students should be in school by 8.40am.
Sixth Form students new to the school in Year 12 and their ‘buddies’ start at 10.15am;
Tthe rest of Year 12 start at 11.15am.
Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 start at 12.15pm. |
