Joseph Rowntree is a good school. The October 2007 Ofsted inspection confirmed this. The examination results are good, and compare favourably with comprehensive schools nationally. We have high expectations of work and behaviour. Standards are important to us. We see children as individuals and try to meet their needs and interests through the formal curriculum and in a wide range of extra curricular activities. We are known for our sporting, musical and artistic achievements as well as our academic record.

We are a designated Technology College. We offer the full curriculum but with a particular emphasis on mathematics, science, design and technology, and information and communications technology. We are proud of this status and the financial and educational opportunities it offers. We aim to raise standards in the specialist subjects and across the curriculum. We also work with the other York schools sharing resources and good practice. Our ICT facilities are extensive.We have established a strong welfare and guidance system to support the students’ learning and personal development. We want your child to feel happy and confident in a safe, caring school.To this end we see parents as partners and we welcome contact with you. Parents and their children are very important to us.
